Dear Parents, Riders, and Volunteers:
It is with regret that we must inform you that Great Strides plans to discontinue operations. We will not be offering any horseback riding sessions at all in 2018, or in the future.
There are many reasons for this and the board did not come to this decision easily. For several years, we have been operating with difficulty in many areas. Obtaining appropriate horses that can attend consistently, and obtaining the many volunteers that it requires to run safely, have been issues for a long time. Furthermore, we are no longer are able to use the indoor arena that has been our “home” for 17 years. There are other reasons too, and it simply is no longer possible to offer the service as we have done in the past.
Great Strides has been in operation for twenty years. They have been good years and we are grateful to have been associated with this activity. Thank you for your participation and understanding. We encourage you to seek out other therapeutic riding programs to serve you by going to Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH).
